Refractories are defined as non-metallic material suitable for construction or lining of furnace operated at high temperatures. Physical and Chemical are the primary requirement for refractory materials. They can withstand pressure from the weight of furnace parts or contents, thermal shocks, resulting from heating and cooling, other stresses induced by temperature changes, mechanical wear, and chemical attacks by heated solids, liquids, gases and fumes..
